Chioma Rosanna Ekechukwu, MD is a psychiatrist with 20 years of active practice experience treating children, adolescents, adults, and geriatric patients. She is adept in the medical management of a broad range of primary and secondary psychiatric illnesses with or without concurrent substance use disorders. She has practiced in forensic hospitals, VAMCs, state-run clinics and correctional facilities, independent for-profit and non-profit private hospitals, crisis stabilization centers, addiction treatment facilities, and multiple outpatient community mental health clinics. As she has held physician licenses in multiple states and done a lot of travel psychiatry, she has served patients from varied cultural backgrounds in large metropolitan cities and suburbs, small towns, and remote rural areas. Dr. Ekechukwu currently holds active physician licenses in SC, NC, GA, MD, and WA.

Dr. Ekechukwu prioritizes personalized care and aims to conduct empathetic interviews and comprehensive evaluations that yield accurate, well-supported diagnoses and follow-up with effective medication management mindful of general medical concerns such as insomnia, fibromyalgia, headache, and chronic pain. I graduated from the Medical College of Georgia in Augusta, GA, completed my internship and residency at Morehouse School of Medicine in Atlanta, GA, and hold certification from the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. She is a member of the American Psychiatric Association and the North Carolina Psychiatric Association. Before her medical career, she earned an M.S. in microbiology from North Carolina State University, worked in immunology and microbiology research, and as a quality control microbiologist. She previously taught high school biology, chemistry, and physical science, 9th through 12th grade. She has shared a personal goal of authoring and having published either a children’s book and/or a work of adult fiction or non-fiction.
